The Christian year is divided into festivals and seasons.  It starts with Advent and ends with Christ the King.   Some, like Christmas and Saint Days are fixed dates.   Some, like Easter, are moveable.  As Easter is a main event in the Christian calendar and as many festivals are connected with Easter they move with it.
